As we sit beside the bleached highway, with little red Volvos passing us curbside and teal minivans blowing hair into our faces, the downbeat of random songs from random radios move with the generated current and bounce off the panneling of pretty townhouses. Shiny silver wheels like shiny silver dollars reflect the sunlight we see melting into dirty rear windows. The walkways are parched. No one uses them anymore.

But our ears feel hollow. For the cars rushing by steal our thoughts, and carry them away with the wind, caught in the millisecond muffles of conversation passing by so fast, they make no sound at all.

So I went for a walk and sat down next to the main road which is right outside my development on some grass next to the park. I had my little notebook on me.

If you want to clear you mind...go sit next to a busy road. just listen to the cars go by...

I like this a lot. Very sensory. It's a wonderful "slice of life" piece. You captured that moment just like a photographer would a scene. Very nice. :rose:

You did a wonderful job of capturing the moment. Your words took me right there to the roadside. That is a powerful thing to be able to do with your words.

You're welcome. And I'm glad that I could let you know just how evocative I find your work. It deserves attention.

great description, i kind of get where you're coming from with the whole clearing your mind thing, though i prefer sitting on the dam across the muskenetcong river (i've no idea how to spell that)
the only thing i would suggest is using a better word than pretty, it's one of those words that you hear a lot. other than that really nice job on this

I prefer random areas in the middle of the woods... far enough away so that it doesn't matter who you are, just where. Gotta luv them windy days!
Its nice to see other people still go on walks.
